Adjectives in Portuguese have grammatical gender and number. This means that the majority of adjectives have masculine and feminine versions as well as the plural of those too. For example:

  • “alto” is masculine and singular
  • “alta” is feminine and singular
  • “altos” is masculine and plural
  • “altas” is feminine and plural
