Dia Internacional da Comida Picante | International Spicy Food Day

Today is International Spicy Food Day, and the purpose of the holiday is to spice up our lives by giving our taste buds the chance to experience a variety of flavourful ingredients. Remember that variety is the spice of life! Prepare food with ingredients such as chillis, pepper and cumin to give today’s food some extra flavour and allow yourself to discover new and delicious combinations.

Even if you’re not a huge fan of hot, spicy food, maybe you can make an exception today. Experts attribute several health benefits to spicy food ranging from the body’s energy consumption and consequent weight loss to cardiovascular strengthening. These are a few reasons to give spicy food a go, if only for today!


Get together with some friends or family and try your hand at some Mexican, Creole, Cajun, Indian or Thai, which are renowned for being spicy. However, make sure you have enough drinks on hand in case the heat gets too much, or as we say in Portuguese caso o calor apertar (in case the heat tightens).
